This Privacy Policy explains how Namma Kannada (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you use our website and app (the “Service”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
1. Information we collect
- Account data: your name, email address, and (optionally) mobile number when you register or sign in with Google.
- Learning data: your progress, XP, streaks, completed scenarios, saved words, achievements, and questions you ask the AI Guru.
- Payment data: when you subscribe, payments are processed by our payment gateway (Razorpay). We do not store your full card or bank details — we only store a payment reference, plan, amount, and status.
- Device & usage data: basic technical information such as device type, browser, and anonymous product-analytics events used to improve the Service.
2. How we use your information
- To provide, personalise, and improve the learning experience.
- To create and secure your account and sync your progress across devices.
- To process subscriptions, payments, and referrals.
- To send you essential account emails (verification, password reset, receipts) and, if you opt in, learning tips.
- To understand how the Service is used, in aggregate, so we can make it better.
3. Legal basis
We process your data based on your consent, to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), and for our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Service. You may withdraw consent at any time.
4. Service providers we share data with
We share limited data only with trusted providers who help us run the Service:
- Supabase — database hosting.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Razorpay — payment processing.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- Google — optional sign-in (OAuth).
- OpenAI — powering AI Guru responses (your question text may be processed to generate an answer).
- PostHog — privacy-friendly product analytics.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
5. Cookies & local storage
We use your browser’s local storage to keep you signed in and to store your learning progress and preferences. We use minimal, privacy-friendly analytics. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
6. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data, except where we must retain limited records (e.g., payment records) to comply with law.
7. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your account and data.
- Withdraw consent and grieve any concern with our Grievance Officer.
To exercise any of these, email us at hello@nammakannada.online.
8. Children
The Service is intended for users aged 13 and above. If you are under 18, please use the Service only with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian, as required by the DPDP Act.
9. Security
We protect your data with industry-standard measures: passwords are stored using strong one-way hashing, connections are encrypted (HTTPS), and access is restricted. No online service can be 100% secure, but we work hard to safeguard your information.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and change the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be notified in-app or by email.
